Here
are some follow-up activities: |
|
1) verse 1 gives
that bluesy feeling of waking up with a morning after
feeling, going into the kitchen to make some coffee and being confronted
with piles of dirty dishes to wash up. Can you think of similar situations
in everyday life?
2) Verse 2 deals with the problem of traffic in Padua, recently declared
the worst city in the Veneto for traffic chaos and pollution by Legambiente.
Is it a problem for you? How could the problem be solved? What is
the present local administration doing about the problem? What local
pressure groups exist to find solutions?
3) Verse 3 deals with the commercial aspect of the city. There are
numerous clothes shops in the city centre but its impossible
to find a hardware shop. Shopping malls are appearing in the suburbs,
attracting more traffic while the centre seems to be declining. Is
this a good thing? What problems are associated with the growth of
huge shopping centres like Centro Giotto?
4) Verse 4 is a comment on the local administration. What is the ship?
Who is the captain? Do you have the same faith in the
crew ?
5) You probably noticed that one verse (the one about the serial killer)
is not sung, probably because it was no longer topical. However, it
shows how relatively easy it is to write new verses to add to the
song about topical events. How about trying to write a verse? Dont
forget to follow the format.
